Balers Recycling Equipment

Balers can be used for many types of materials. Balers can make material storage easier and cheaper as well less costly to transport. Balers are also used in the material recycling facilities, primarily for baling plastic, paper or cardboard for transport to a recycling facility. Balers with a capacity to produce 65 to 75 bales/hour & a shearing force capacity rated at 380 tons are available.

Balers


Balers compact waste into blocks which can be stacked at a landfill or “balefill". Since industrial balers usually deal with large volumes, they usually have a large input area either on the side or top depending on the type of baler. Horizontal balers are the most general type of baler available. These balers load from one end and travel the material through to the other end in a horizontal motion. Not all horizontal balers follow a perfect horizontal path, but move the load horizontally for the majority of the process. Horizontal balers take up more floor space than vertical balers, but they have the advantage of greater load capacity and more fully automated functions. Vertical balers usually have more than one charge box in order to process different types or grades of material. Vertical balers often are single load machines and need to be manually unloaded when the compacting and baling is complete. Industrial balers can also be found in many other areas such as medical facilities, restaurants, junk yards and schools. Some balers have the capability to shear and remove extra protrusions integrated into the function of the machine. Cardboard balers are designed to deal specifically with compressing and binding cardboard, usually for recycling. Double-ram balers have a separate ram for compressing recyclable material against a fixed wall and a second ram for ejecting the finished bale (also see single-ram baler). Industrial balers are often part of a line, with conveyor systems and shredders. Round balers gather material or are fed material, which is rolled or collected and bound into a cylinder shape, like common hay bales. As mentioned above, there are many different styles of Balers that are available to fit almost every (reasonable) need.

Baling Equipment


As recycling becomes more central to industrial and manufacturing processes, baling equipment will continue to play a central role in the process as well. Two attachments available on some machines or from outside manufacturers are wrapping equipment for applying plastic completely around the bale and hay preservative equipment for metering chemical preservatives into the bale as it is formed. There are, of course, many waste haulers who want to help customers save money (just like any other industry) but there are many who resist the use of compaction equipment since it reduces service requirements. As mentioned above, oftentimes waste haulers will try to discourage the use of compaction equipment. These and other deterrents are a separate subject matter, however the main point is that customers are entitled to know (and should know) exactly how they are being charged (including itemized breakdowns) regardless of whether or not compaction equipment is involved.

Recycling Balers


Balers are also used in the material recycling facilities, primarily for baling plastic, paper or cardboard for transportto a recycling facility. Baled waste often provides a revenue stream for businesses as recycling companies pay for baled recyclable waste. Whether papers, heavy metal, and debris of all kinds are destined for recycling or for the landfill, balers keep them from decorating the environment. To achieve maximum value from Balers as it relates to a recycling program, there should be adequate allocations made for proper sorting. Waste from business operations is a highly neglected area and because of that there are tremendous streamlining and efficiency benefits (aside from recycling benefits) that can be derived by baling and compacting waste. In effect, by not pursuing the benefits of recycling and compaction whenever possible, it is basically the equivalent of the waste hauler picking up many empty dumpsters each month.
